Bookmarklets are like URLs. Basically,a bookmarklet is a bookmark, but in the URL section, there's a chunk of Javascript!
This way, when you click on the bookmark, you run that section of javascript in your browser, calling for some interesting results. Javascript can't be used on it's own (Unless you use node.js, which is a different story).


Bookmarklets, used in the right way, can help you browse the web efficiently, OR, just provide some fun!
Here's an example of a youtube adblocker bookmarklet (it lets you skip to the end of the ad)
